Image Issues

I have a thought that doesn't have to do with Jamberry (shocking, I know). I was talking to a friend about being Curvy vs. Skinny. Now regardless of anything else, you should love the body you have. There are somethings that you will never change, such as being big boned or having narrow shoulders. No amount of dieting or plastic surgery is going to change that...unless you look into the several illegal surgeries available in certain countries, which I do not suggest.

I have always been a full figured girl, who is tall, big boned and curvaceous. When you look at how to see to life... having been blessed with such a figure, there's different ways you can look at life. Yes, we should all seek to be healthy. But, what is healthy though? There's a current thought method going on that as long as you can do what you want to our of life, you're fine. I would disagree. I am perfectly happy with my size, but know I need to lose weight.

My relationship with weight has been pretty weird because I on one hand have a full and healthy amount of self esteem about myself. On the other, I know I'm on a bad path and need to lose weight. When I do lose weight, I typically will also start to struggle with my self esteem. I miss my curves terribly, especially my butt. I mean, who likes a flat butt white girl? We're not exactly flaunted as being icons of beauty.

Now, the full figured white girl has been getting quite a bit of press recently. Look at Christina Hendricks or Meghan Trainor (see video #1). I always wish that when filling out questionnaires there was a option of body type for "full figured like Christina Hendricks".   Yes, I know she doesn't like that term, but she can deal with it. Her figure is getting her a lot of press and fame. 'EMBRACE your awesomeness', I would tell her, if I ever spoke to her.. and if it wasn't creepy or inappropriate to tell that to someones face.

Going back to the conversation I had with my friend... one of the main things that we had spoken about was the fact that what weight you should carry should be related to who YOU are. Some people do not look good skinny. Some people look GREAT thin. It all depends on you. In many ways I'm afraid to lose weight, because a full figured girl is who I am. But, If I don't allow myself to change and grow, then I miss out on the opportunity to know who size 10 me would be (my ideal size). I posted the second video because while it's the same song... it's so different. Its still AMAZING, but in it's own way. If ART can grow and change and still retain its awesomeness, I guess I can as well. If I can grow and change, so can everyone else as well. Who is hiding inside you? Perhaps they're not hiding under a layer of fat, maybe it's something more sneaky like depression. If you don't let them out, how will you ever meet YOU?

Gel Nails VS Wraps

I have invested in both a Gel Nail UV machine and in Jamberry Nail wraps. The style of Jamberry is that you either do polish on most of your nails with
a accent Wrap nail, or vis versa. I currently have the wrap called "Seascape" on. I put a silver accent nail on each hand.

I put both the wrap and the accent nail on at the same time. The accent nail is a Silver Gel. In the picture to the left the wrap that I am talking about is in the middle (it looks like watercolor). In the epicure you can see how they suggest multiple different wraps for the same style.

Within the same space of time, I've had to replace the accent nails twice (a week). Now, you maybe saying to yourself, she isn't applying them correctly. I am in fact. It's not that hard of a process. Clean the nail, wipe it down with alcohol to dry it out and then apply the base coat, and expose to UV light... and so forth.

At least in my mind JAMBERRY wins this test! I wore these wraps and gels to the Salt Lake City Comic Con and to work for the last week. The Gels did not last, and the wraps are almost as good as new! The image below is not my hand, but it's pretty close to what I have going on! Instead of a blue accent nail, mine is silver.

Why should I invest in my nails?

Weird question, right? I mean, its just my hands. And my nails don't do much for me.. oh wait, they do SO much for me! But how can wearing wraps help? I mean, sure, there's lots of stuff out there like this Nail Shape Personality Test, that's always fun to look at. But does that really do much for you? Probably not. You can also judge yourself off of studies like this Finger Length Personality Test which I have an issue with as depending on how I hold my hand, different fingers may appear longer...

None the less, lets look at some of the ways wearing a protective wrap can help!

1) Finger Nail Biters : Wearing a wrap can help incentivize those who bite their nails to stop! Within my group of friends (a very scientific group for study, I know) many of them signed up to use the wraps either for themselves or for their daughters. Having the wraps on their nails helps them to break the habits that they have developed. When your nails have wraps on them, you can't bite your nails!

2) Thin Nails That Break Easily : When the wrap is on your nail, it prevents casual breakage. This is the boat that I am in! My nails have gotten stronger and the breakage is way down! Yes, the nail does break under the wrap sometimes, taking the wrap off with it, but I've found that if I put a layer of nail polish down when it happens, it'll keep it on. I also put a protective layer of nail strengthener down prior to applying the wraps (yes, you can layer the wraps on polish! watch for a future blog post on this).

***Knowing that you have thin nails ahead of time, you would want to make sure to use the gentle removal methods (such as the olive oil removal method). And if you use nail polish remover, make sure to buy a STRONG one, the normal ones didn't work for me. The brand to the right is one that I use when removing my wraps. Many people can just heat the wrap to remove it, either with hot water or their Mini Heater, I would suggest against this for those with weak nails.

3) General Nail Strengthening/Protection: A common compliant when people first start wearing the wraps if that their nails feel coarse when they remove the wraps. This is actually a good thing!

Your nails are naturally buffered throughout the day. They get dirty, they soak in chemicals that weaken the nails and generally have a lot of wear and tear that happen to them. When your nails are protected and covered, this is prevented! The natural buffering, chemical soaking/etc does not happen! This is why, I always suggest to people new to nail care to purchase one of Jamberry's nail care kits! Inside of it is everything you would need to take care of your nails, including a buffer. The wrap first protects the nail on a daily basis, then the buffer will provide the polish/buffering that you will need. The nail oil will help to strengthen your nails and keep them to a shine. This way YOU control what happens to your nails, and what their exposed to.

Why Jamberry?

MANY people have asked my why I chose to be a consultant for Jamberry. I mean, I already work in the corporate offices of a different Direct Sales Company... Young Living (EO addict forever!). I had always told people that I would have NO problem signing up to be a consultant for a Direct Sales company if the right company came along.

OBVIOUSLY  I couldn't sign up with Young Living, or any other related company (company policy). I also would never sign up for a company where the product didn't sell itself, I'm much too lazy for that. When I first became aware of the concept of Nail Wrap Art a few years ago, I became a addict. All I knew about though was the product that I could find in the grocery store. Only a limited amount was ever put out and I could never find the style that I wanted. My choices were limited. As well, the product was kinda spendy and didn't last that long. You stretched it onto your nails and then applied heat to attach the wrap. It then cooled down to a nail polish type consistence, which would wear off almost as fast as regular nail polish would.

TWO months ago I became aware of a NEW Direct Sales Company, Jamberry. Not only were these Wraps superior to what I had tried out before, but I could choose from a HUGE catalog of style options! Instead of finishing to a nail polish type consistence, they remain a sticker. The sticker DOES NOT fade, warp, or crack. You do have to apply the wrap to your nail correctly and treat your nails properly (more blog posts to follow about this!).

WHY did I sign up as a consultant instead of just buying by product as a retail customer? Because, as with most Direct Sales companies becoming a Consultant/Distributor/Representative just make sense. You get your product at a discount, and should you want to make sales, you can. Making sales means $$$. In Jamberry its a 30% commission. They issued me a free Propay MasterCard and every Friday I get paid! Should I start making serious money, for only .30 I can transfer the money from the Propay card into my bank account. I just visited a woman who is paying her mortgage on a very large house with her Jamberry money. I mean, I could use a extra $7000 a month, couldn't you?

SO, not only do I have AMAZING nails now, but I'm making money by sharing a product I love with the friends I love! Parties can be done in person, or through modern social media! Who doesn't love the idea of throwing a casual Facebook party? No cleaning, no treat making, and you get to attend in your pajamas. As long as you make $100 in sales you get at least one free wrap.

Contact me with questions, or if you want to sign up or to host a part. I am more than happy to send out free samples! I will be posting a blog at least once a week, on Sunday. I may blog throughout the week on other topics as well. Welcome friends, I hope you comment below about Jamberry!
